In today’s Healing Through Writing circle, we explored what it means to accept our diminished capacity. For some, it was the first time beginning to identify with disability; shedding the mask in favour of telling the truth.
We spoke about holding compassion while setting boundaries, especially with those we love.
We unpacked beliefs, and began looking at pain in new ways - ways that make space for gentleness.
We shared wisdom, not from a place of fixing, but from tender care.
The invitation is always to show up as you are.
No masks. No need to perform.
That’s why our conversations often run deep and go straight to the heart of things.
As we opened the circle, we lit three candles:
One for slowing down
One for tuning in
One for listening to the soul part of ourselves
It was the theme of slowing down that inspired this week’s meditation.
We explored what that phrase means to each of us. What it looks like in practice. What thoughts or feelings surface when we consider the idea.
I end the meditation by guiding us through my number one go-to practice.
This is the practice that supported me most when I was struggling - truly struggling - to slow down.
It took me years to write about that struggle.
Because beneath it, there was grief. A deep, unnamed grief.
When I finally shared that part, the response was overwhelming.
That one post became my most read, most engaged piece overnight.
So now, I invite you to take just 7 minutes to listen.
To be with yourself.
To slow down.

When you listen to this week’s meditation, notice:
What feelings arise?
What thoughts unravel?
Is slowing down one of your biggest challenges too?
What does it mean to you, personally, versus what you think it should look like?
And lastly:
How do you make space to slow down in your day?
With intention? At set times? In stolen moments?
Or do you long for a way but haven’t found one yet?
✨I’d love to know what this brought up for you.
Reply here or leave a comment if anything stirred.
And if the meditations supported you, feel free to share it with someone who might need it today.
From our circle to your heart - in slowness and in stillness,
Amber💛
