Warrior weekly: Stepping into my own – join me?
Leaning into process, growing in confidence and fully embracing who I came here to be.
Most Sundays I share with you my week at a peak. The highs, the lows, the insights. Thought-provoking prompts at the end.
See you in the comments?
Monday – in this morning’s Healing Through Writing sesh, one of us wrote a no-send letter to their partner. I’ve written a few of these in my time – to versions of myself, to fear as well as pain. Also one to an ex-boyf/work place and friends on occasion. I’ve received much in the way of deep healing on the back of them too – some that came through 2 years after writing it and some that came through more or less immediately in dreams. Are you a fan of writing no-send letters? Who would you write one to?
Bring Back the Balance Retreat this aft with monthly regular. I don’t ever know who’s more ready for her arrival when she lands, her or me? “I can breathe” she exclaimed on our tree of hope walk. That’s one of the most notable impacts on the nervous system to visiting here, you can breathe, like really breathe. Healing can happen, change can occur, you feel more like your own self. How is your breath today?
Tuesday – 9am writing class with
. Getting serious about editing the first book that I feel will be published of mine. Came out of nowhere last month and I had the first draft typed within 2 days. It’s a one-year memoir on last year that will combine with a journal at the back. All about stepping into your inner power, daring to dream and flying fearlessly in the direction that it is you want to go. I always knew last year was so big that it could be turned into a book but I didn’t know that was going to become a reality. Finding the editing process challenging and tricky. Its my first time on it and being in an online space with others as I lean into this part of the process I find essential.Went to R’s mums for tea then a family trip out to a soundbath! Me, him, his mum and his teenage son. Not the usual journey I often end up on (for the 2nd time). Another practice into leaning into what is rather than how I think things should be.
Wednesday – a repeat of last week’s pelvic floor breathwork in this week’s online yoga/check in (as requested). Really enjoying doing this everyday as a practice and keen to share it with others. But first, to embody it myself and feel into the openness and expansion that comes with it - looking forward to seeing how that plays out in life (and health).
I’ve been feeling so much frustration recently around where I’m at and how much more work I want to be getting on with yet don’t have the energy or capacity to do it all. One thing that helps immensely when I feel like this is to write a ta da list. Pause and celebrate my successes. In this case, I saw that I’ve achieved more in the last 2 weeks than I would have done in any 2 month period for who knows how many years? Not only that, the work I am doing is more purposeful and intentional than it ever has been.
What successes are you recently celebrating? What would go on your ta da list and how does writing one in moments of frustration/not feeling enough make you feel?
Husband and wife (new) bodywork clients today. Felt like I gave them both a pummelling, got into all their hot spots. Clients often think this is all they ever need but, this isn’t often usually the case. I work with the energy of the body and respond to the body’s needs which can differ to what you think you need. Responding to what the body needs and is guiding you towards leads to the deepest healing. How do the needs of your body differ to what you think you should be doing or have been told/advised to do?
One client today has sciatica, I could feel it in both her feet and both sides of her lower back. I made clear at the beginning. “I can’t indicate how much it will help, only that you will benefit from this treatment” She felt incredible afterwards and, in the days following, “my hip and legs feel 100 times better. Thank you”. They both booked back in for next month, I left buzzing with the results.
Thursday – big day today. My friend set up a networking group the other year to bring women in business together. It’s been an amazing space that is unique to any other. She was ill today and asked me to pick up the guest speaker coming all the way in from London and lead the day. No pressure!
We got more than we bargained for with Dr Mayoni who is a medically trained pelvic floor surgeon. We learned doctors only receive two days training on the anatomy of a women and nothing about the deeply complex topic of our hormones and the vital part our hormones play in our physical, mental and emotional health.
It is exceptionally rare I meet someone with the knowledge, expertise and understanding that rivals my own lived experience, research and breakthroughs. I remember many of you have an interest in this deeply complex and misunderstood topic yourselves so I’m going to turn today’s workshop on Redefining Hormonal Health into a blog, coming to you soon (hopefully!).
I was suitably shattered by the end of the day and even more confident in the understanding I have of the deeply complex and mostly misunderstood. I may not be medically trained, but I don’t cover medical ground or ever step outside my area of knowledge, understanding and my own expertise.
Where are you feeling most confident with in life right now? Either with your family, work, health and/or purpose.
Friday – tired after yesterday, rubbish night’s sleep. Neighbours blaring music loudly until late, a blog rattling around my head until I got up and wrote an outline for it at 5am. Dr Mayoni left her phone in my car yesterday so I had to drive out to the post office – twice! I live in the back and beyond so a post office is a distance away and when I initially got there it was closed.
Conveniently though, we do have a train station where I went to meet a client (after meeting on Linked In last year) who’s come to Retreat With Me overnight this weekend. Like myself, she is here to uplift humanity on a global scale and is currently studying psychology so that she can move and shake the way we look at human consciousness through the lens of psychology, leading on to updating rehab programs all across the globe. She’s also writing a small series of books, one of which is destined to be a film.
Saturday – another rubbish nights sleep. Full moon energy anyone? How is this weekend’s full moon affecting you? What impact does this have on your physical, mental and emotional health?
Leisurely morning, lots of deep conversation, chatting and holding space for this wkend’s client.
Brunch and a walk before delivering a super expansive, full bodywork channelling treatment. As with all treatments of this nature, you never know which direction its going to take and this went off in its own direction, different to any other.
Head not been so great today, felt sick at teatime (after a lie down) and felt sure there would be a good chance of puking up tea. Luckily, dinner settled it.
Sunday - head still not so great. Not slept well again. I’m in summer week (meant to be our peak week energy, vibrancy, health wise - unless we’re scattered) so wrote a list of all the triggers that could be adding up; feeling frustrated to the extent I have been is a big one for me, getting caught up in chaotic energy, being exposed to chemicals (perfumes, skincare, washing detergent) adding to more sugar (a little daily) than I’d normally have, the big days and sleepless nights - all tied in with the full moon and eclipse.
Sunday lunch with client friend and a walk along the canal. An epic guided meditation channelled which took us to the mad hatters tea party with all the cups and teapots representing individual emotions.
Space for reflection
My greatest passion is to help others who live with chronic illness find their voice. Part of the work I do around this is to ask thought-provoking questions. Choose one or two below and let’s chat about what’s come up for you in the comments?
Are you a fan of writing no-send letters? Who would you write one to?
How is your breath today?
What is/are the main emotions you are feeling this week?
What successes are you recently celebrating? What would go on your ta da list and how does writing one in moments of frustration/not feeling enough make you feel?
How do the needs of your body conflict with what you think you should be doing or have been told/advised to do?
Where are you feeling most confident in life right now? In your family, work, health and purpose.
How is this weekend’s full moon affecting you in respect of feelings, sleep, mood, etc? What impact does this have on your physical, mental and emotional health?
I’ll bring these prompts to our Healing Through Writing space in the morning for those occasions where we need inspired ideas on what to write about. Here’s what to expect when you do.
