Ok, so I thought I’d nailed it today by recording this morning’s grounding meditation in our Healing Through Writing circle.
Only I had wi-fi issues, leaving me to host the circle on my phone and the recording I managed to download has no voice on it!
Still, it’s an idea I’ve had in the pipeline for an age (and ignored), which was then requested by last Wednesday’s attendees.
It’s all coming together
For such a long time, I’ve wanted a word to capture the space that, together, we are co-creating here. I love the word community but I wanted something different. With the nifty help of AI, I’ve recently updated my bio to read:
“A sanctuary for the holistic migraine warrior. Come home to your power, rewrite your story; one breath, one choice, one moment at a time.”
Breathe into the word sanctuary with me….
How does that land in your body?
For me, it lands in my left hand side hip. Enabling me to feel that little bit more grounded. Anchored.
I do love the word sanctuary! To me, it means a place of refuge and some respite from the world of chronic illness as we know it. A haven, a place of safety. It’s sacred.
You might arrive feeling unsafe - out of control, overwhelmed even - but I hope with gentle practices like the grounding meditation that I’ll be soon introducing, that you’ll learn to feel safe in your body, safe in this space and safe to share here what’s true for you.
I already know that, like me, you have bags of determination. You have the ability to overcome (the yes, relentless) obstacles (but you can do it! You are capable). And you have the capacity to achieve tangible results that will bring you lasting relief. Yes, lasting relief.
Living with energy and vitality is possible. We might need a strategic roadmap and action plan to get there. The good news is that I began to implement a version of my own in 2018 and have already mapped it all out. Leading me to where I am now; living a life of (mostly) vibrant health and (nearly) full energy.
An example of overcoming an obstacle
One of my significant challenges to date has been that I have struggled to articulate this. To feel safe enough to sit here and share with you that not only have I learned to take back the reigns of creation for my health, but that I can teach you to do the same.
I knew what I was doing the entire time. The entire journey I have been on is fully evidence-based and science-backed. I researched as I implemented and integrated as I researched, implementing and integrating and researching some more.
In recent years, I’ve allowed the fear of what others think and the repercussion of stepping out and saying “its not this way, its that way” to keep me silenced. Compliant. Stuck. In a rut. Whilst going ever deeper into my healing, into the understanding of the journey I am on. Continuing on the research whilst trying to figure out
Why am I as well as I am now? How did I get here? What have I done differently?
Its been triggering and its been traumatic. I’m almost 5 years in to writing and in the process of publishing my 2nd book; Migraine and Me. Only to find that in taking my time (years) to write it, EVERYthing is in there.
It’s time for me to build on that and start sharing with you the pathway. A pathway that will lead you to what you deeply value the most; balance and harmony. So that you can take the action you’re ready to make, now - whilst the book is still in its editing stage.
It’s time to make peace with migraine. Not just for me in the way that I have, but for so many more of us.
Are you ready to embark on a journey of this nature?
Where abouts do you see yourself on it now, in this moment?
Space for reflection
I’d love you to share what comes up for you in the comments but perhaps you might like to sit with this one over the next few days or journal it out:
What idea have you had niggling away that you’re yet to put into action?
What’s one tiny step you can take to bring that idea to life?
For me its been the Monday meditation. I took a step by voicing my idea in circle last week when asked about it. I took another step this morning in braving it up to hit record. It didn’t work this time round but I can trust that it will next time. I can be proud of myself; I’m taking small steps that are in alignment with the sanctuary space that I’m wanting to co-create with you here.

You can buy my first (e)book, described as “ideal for women seeking balance” on Amazon. It’s available anywhere in the world and free to download on Kindle Unlimited.

I am beaming that it’s latest 5* review by
, author of Journey to Wisdom and Wellness, has this to say:“I subscribe to Amber’s writing on Substack, so was excited to read her book, and it didn’t disappoint! Amber has such a wonderful way of writing that is genuine, open and cuts straight to the point, so that it is easy to feel engaged and connected to her words. This book describes her journey to wellness, which is incredibly inspiring, and the journal section provides scaffolding to guide the reader in their own healing. As someone who is also striving to live well with chronic illness, this book has been invaluable in helping me change my perspective and approach. Looking forward to the next book!”
Love the word sanctuary and look forward to having your meditations to listen to when I like! 💚
I am excited for you Amber! I can’t wait to start this journey together!
