This afternoon I had a meeting with my publishers about my 2nd book, Migraine & Me.
If I was able to cry, I would’ve been balling my eyes out at multiple points during the team feedback as it was presented to me.
I recently sent in a significantly updated version of the manuscript I first drafted back in 2021. After spending my life up until this point never celebrating myself or recognising anything I did as worthy - always waiting for somebody else’s permission and approval – I want to share with you what they’ve said. Celebrate with me?
They’ve said the book comes across so strong!
They LOVE the authenticity and emotional depth. The tone, the vibe, the way its written and the conversational tone.
It will be ideal for anyone suffering with chronic migraine and living with an invisible illness.
There is a compelling narrative that is deeply personal. Highly relatable.
It is a really practical guide that is research backed with evidence-based practices and lifestyle adjustments that can be made.
This is so much more than a memoir.
This is an actionable guide and journal that will take readers on a journey to empowerment.
Including prompts, reflective exercises - an incredible self-help tool.
It encourages readers to take an active role in their own life.
There isn’t the feeling of being talked down to. It is clear to see I haven’t thought too much about the audience which has enabled me to get into the detail1 (often missing from other journals I am told).
My resilience shines through, the transformational journey I’ve been on. Inspiring hope and gifting guidance.
And the BIG ONE…
Migraine & Me bridges the gap between science and spirituality2 !!!!!!!!!!!!
Because of this, it will appeal to a broad audience. We can use language like
“integrative health approaches”
and integrative medicine language and terminology.
Mental and emotional healing will take place. The journey the book will take readers on will help shift mindset from a place of victimhood to self-empowerment.
To top it all off, Partnership Publishing then presented to me the books they feel are most comparable to Migraine & Me:
The Body Keeps the Score – the number one recommended book in the realm of healing trauma. Though mine is much more personal, interactive and practical.
When the Body Says No – Gabor Mate – Migraine & Me is different but with the same active guide.
Untamed – Glennon Doyle – though this is completely narrative based and is different, in some ways the publishers feel it is similar.
Radical Acceptance – Buddhist philosophy - different in that Migraine & Me will reach a broader range in holistic wellness/techniques but similar in respect of its connection to inner trust and spiritual principles.
The Migraine Miracle – this is broadly science and dietary lifestyle based. Migraine & Me is a holistic and personal journey which they believe makes mine ten times better!?!
The one thing that stood out to me is that all these book are international bestsellers. In 2021 I put on my vision board that I wanted to create an international bestseller. For people looking for a long-term solution to a complex problem.
Are you one of them?

At the end I shared with my publisher that the reason I believe so many journals miss the mark and lack the detail is because it’s so incredibly challenging to sit with. It takes A LOT of work. Writing my memoir has been retraumatising - affecting me to the extent that I couldn’t write for a full year. I’ve been to the deepest darkest depths I could possibly find myself and didn’t come out until I could find the pearls. These pearls, I now gift to you.
WTAF this is an insight I had right at the beginning of my journey. ALL the research I was doing was a meeting in the middle of science and spirituality. I didn’t go down one route or the other (even though I’ve been told numerous times I did - used as another way to dismiss me). I do not believe one to be superior to the other. Nor did I realise I would be here, bridging that gap! It was only later that I learned my approach to be an integrative one. The approach I believe will take us the furthest in healing, recovery and understanding. The journey I believe we are all on, whether collectively and/or individually.
Wowowowoweeeeee! This is incredible feedback!!!!! I’m so happy for you love, here cheerleading for you… But also thinking, yup, you’re a fantastic writer and it’s no surprise they see it 💕
