Dear migraine warrior
I want you to know that You matter. Your health matters.
I cannot emphasise this enough.
No matter where you are on your journey, I want you to know that you’ve got this!
You are here for a reason. You make a difference by being here.
Perhaps deep down, you already know this. Perhaps this is why you are here.
Hello.
I’ve been patiently waiting for you.
Shining my light bright like a beacon.
Trusting you will find me when it is time.
I love to ask thought-provoking – potentially even life-changing – questions.
Will you sit with me a while? Let us cosy on up by the fire. Get to know one another.
I’d love to know, what is it that your inner voice is trying to tell you? What is the warrior within communicating? Not the fighting warrior. I imagine you’re exhausted from the fight. That it’s been an uphill battle and struggle for a very long time now. Are you close to surrender?
Time to hear that whisper within; it’s that feeling, the knowing, a niggle that you just can’t shake. Trying, in earnest, to get your attention. To tell you something. Share with you what it is you need to know. A hint, a step, a message maybe.

In my case it was the thought pattern “there must be more to life than this”. “I am not meant to be disabled. Surely, I am not meant to live my life this way”. I was at the tender of age of 38 when I found myself in this state. 3 months earlier, I’d lost my dad to cancer. Then came the final collapse of my health. The loss of my job, income and career all in one fell swoop.
There has been a lot of sadness, a lot of grief in my life. How about you?
Along this road, along this path – of waking up to what I knew to be true and connecting to the warrior within – I learnt to drown out the noise, tune into my own inner knowing. I took back the reigns of creation for my own life, my own health and began the journey of healing. I chose the path of research and making changes. Of trusting in the unknown.
I began to break cycles and patterns and behaviours. Creating new ones that aligned with what it was I truly wanted; wellness.
In doing so, I came to find a new way of seeing, a new way of being and a new way of believing.
Let me remind you again, fellow warrior; You matter. Your health matters.
What is it that you want?
What do you believe to be true?
I would like to end by sharing with you a poem I wrote the summer I started writing for you on here; “I see you”.
I see you in all your humanness
I see you in all your wholeness
I see parts of you longing to be heard
To be seen
To be witnessed
And understood
I see you
I hear you
I witness you
I understand you
I believe you
We do not need validation from an outside source
We do not need recognition from another
I am here
I am with you
You are not alone
I’d love to share with you a healing playlist that lands in your inbox when you subscribe to Warrior Within.
I don’t know about you but one of the greatest challenges I faced when embarking on this deep and complex, lonely and misunderstood journey was that not only was their insufficient support, access to resources so that I could learn to support myself were no where to be found.
It is partly for this reason I created all in one resource for you where I bring the balance of everything I’ve read and learnt together:
I’ll leave it here for now, with an invitation to sit with the question:
What do you want to give voice to?
What comes up for you?

Very timely! I just wrote a lengthy post about migraine and chronic illness and my experience with medical gas lighting. Haven't decided yet if I will send it out.
Thank you Amber ❤️
