When I first went chemical free I used an incredible Canadian based company called living libations. I can’t use them anymore as I’m too sensitive to essential oils - but I learned so much from them!
I changed my skincare, oral care and hair care. Best changes were my hair … I went from washing every day to once every 10 days and my curls were the healthiest they had ever been without any products.
I rarely needed deodorant and I loved that I just used 1-2 products for everything.
Going chemical free is quite the journey - but it’s been 100% worth it in my experience! Glad you’ve found similar success!
I’ve learnt that with the essential oils - luckily I’ve been ok but tropic had to bring out an unscented range for extra sensitive skin.
Oral care I forgot to mention in here - it’s been the last change I’ve made, only in the last year. I use a tongue scraper and oil pull though I’m a bit sporadic with the latter.
I gaslit myself that it was gross not to shower every day. But then I confront the thought with the fact that 1) my house is cold, I don't sweat much even when doing cardio --> the Youtube video instructor sweated buckets but I barely broke a sweat, and I was in a fleece jacket to boot, 2) I use only 1 soap bar with minimum ingredients, no fragrance nor colourants, my body likes it as I don't have a strong BO at all. I shower 2-3x weekly, saving water and healthier to my body.
I love this! At times I’ve wondered if I’m the only one but realised I can’t be.
I forgot to mention on here that Back in 2018, I had a very pungent smell. One I’ve wondered if it’s only ever identified with chronic illness to that extent. It temporarily returned the other week when I completely screwed over my own energy (I had to shower everyday again that week) but other than that I’ve never had it before or since.
Came to realise that many of the so-called "habits" or normalcy outlook is society-prescribed, don't you think? But then we go on individual levels of hygiene and circumstances and things vary wildly.
Yep😅 it’s the same with food in respect of meals. Eating breakfast wasn’t something we used to do. It was introduced in the Industrial Revolution as a way to fuel us up to go to work. It wasn’t an additional meal to benefit us or our body and its systems.
I'll still stand by the definition that breakfast is the first meal of the day (breaking the fast) so having breakfast at 1 pm? Nothing to see here... 👀 🤣
