Come As You Are
An invitation to return to the body and the parts of yourself that have been waiting to be heard.
Dear Warrior Woman,
What if there was nothing you needed to fix in yourself, only something waiting to be heard?
I learnt the hard way that even when the world cannot see it, the body remembers.
That my body had been speaking to me all along, trying to be seen and believed.
It didn’t need fixing.
It needed listening.
Belief. Attention. Compassion.
And yet, part of me always knew this. Part of me had been quietly yearning for it.
Here to Help
It’s recently come to my attention that one of the ways in which I help you is by trying to be me. By showing up as I am.
If you’ve been keeping me company on this journey for a little while, you will know that my invitation to you is to show up as you are. Always.
There are a few things I mean when I say this.
I mean like I am today.
Full of snots and sniffles.
My ears feel like they are full of cotton wool.
I’m dressed but I haven’t done anything with my hair, nor have I washed my face.
I feel a bit rubbish.
I also feel excited. Eager to get on.
But my body is asking for patience. Stillness. Just a little more space before tackling all the jobs.
Dear Warrior Woman, what is your body asking for today?
I also mean this.
If you are running late.
Feeling behind.
I was taught in my circle facilitation training to have a cut-off point. To not allow anyone to enter the space if they missed the opening of the circle; the lighting of the candle, the settling in, the grounding meditation.
I understand the reasoning behind this. The logic it carries.
But I also understand the need to make space for you to show up exactly as you are.
And that need feels far greater than any rationale.
Yet so few spaces truly honour this.
All of You is Welcome
There are other ways I extend this invitation too.
You are welcome to stay for as little or as long as you like. No apologies. No explanations required.
You can move as little or as much as you like. Want. Or need.
Your presence is encouraged, yes — but only in honour of the capacity you have available in any given moment.
There is no judgement here.
The reason for this is simple.
There is a woman in many of us who has learned to hold it all together.
To carry responsibility.
To manage pain.
To keep going when the body asks for something different.
But beneath the strength and resilience is the part we are trying to reconnect with.
The part of ourselves where we are simply allowed to be.
You may recognise her.
The woman who keeps going.
The one others rely on.
The one who has learned to carry more than most people realise.
This invitation wants her:
Not perfect.
Not healed.
Not finished.
But present.
In your own body.
In your own life.
You Are Invited
On Saturday I shared with you the first theme of this year’s seven Free To Be Me sessions:
This will be held this Friday.
Here I want to share what the year ahead will look like.
Each of the seven is an invitation to return to the place where you do not have to be any more of anything.
Each theme explores a different part of the body.
A different part of the story.
Each one revealing emotions.
Each one sharing the wisdom that resides there.
In these Free To Be Me circles we hold one another’s hands, metaphorically speaking. We place a steady hand on each other’s backs.
We do not see one another as people who need fixing.
Instead, we learn to witness.
To listen.
To honour what is present within ourselves.
And in doing so, we create a space where each woman is witnessed and honoured too.
Throughout the year, beginning this Friday and gathering on the third Friday of most months, we will gently explore:
The pelvis, womb and hips (Friday 20th March)
The nervous system and breath (Friday 17th April)
The heart and chest (Friday 15th May)
The voice and throat (Friday 18th September)
The mind and inner landscape (Friday 16th October)
The roots of belonging and identity (Friday 20th November)
The body as a whole living ecosystem (Friday 18th December)
Each theme opens a different doorway into the body.
A place to listen.
To feel.
To reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been quiet for a long time.
Together, we learn to notice.
To feel.
To move.
To remember.
This Friday we begin with The Temple of the Pelvis.
An area of the body where women carry creativity, grief, instinct, memory and power.
A place that holds both vulnerability and deep strength.
The invitation, as always, is to arrive exactly as you are.
All of you is welcome.
There is no expectation to perform or transform.
Only the willingness to listen to your body and allow whatever wishes to be known.
You do not need to know exactly what you are looking for to come.
Many women arrive simply feeling curious.
Some arrive tired.
Some arrive carrying questions they cannot yet name.
Wherever you are is enough.
If your body feels curious about this exploration, you are warmly invited to join us this Friday as we begin with the pelvis, womb and hips.
A gentle return to the place of instinct, creativity and inner knowing.
Come as you are.
All of you is welcome.
With fire, warmth and deep belief in your voice,
Amber💛
P.S. Free To Be Me is a donation-based set of offerings.
The invitation is to meet yourself where you are at financially.
You do not have to do them all.
I intend to run them in a similar fashion each year.
Join us for one or a few. Do some this year or next.
This is the start of something new.
