A rainbow of growth in Healing Through Writing
With an invitation to join us, let's grow together?
Last year I was inching towards the launch of a paywalled community with a ‘knowing’ that I was going to take other writers with me on the journey of getting our book(s) published. One nugget of information was coming through one month at a time:
A sacred space for writers
To be called Healing Through Writing
For us all to show up as we are – no matter how we’re feeling or what we’re wearing (pjs and bedhead always welcome)
Every Monday
Morning
9:30am (GMT)
Weekly for now, an additional mid-week in the afternoon to follow
But I want to hold a monthly circle too?
Followed by a nudge to keep that intention and be patient as ideas materialise and more guidance comes through (its nearly the end of this year now and I’m still waiting though we do have Partnership Publishing coming in to talk to us about book publishing).
6 months in, how’s it going?
Such a held space, what a way to start each week.
On Monday’s session, we arrived feeling drained, tired, overwhelmed, discombobulated, a little uneasy.
I didn’t have the Warrior Weekly journaling prompts to share for those that benefit from added inspiration because I’ve taken a little break from sharing it. Instead, journal prompts were revealed as we opened space lighting 3 candles, a practice that we do together each week.
This week we lit a candle for the 3 areas of recovery I gleaned when reading the first (draft) chapter of a book on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Recovery.
We lit one candle for the integrative approach I’ve come to see as a common denominator in those who consider themselves to be on a recovery/healing journey.
We lit a second candle for the belief that person has; the belief that recovery is possible.
The third candle was lit with the empowering realisation that the power is within you.
The 2 journal prompts to come out of this and on the back of initial shares on big questions we were asking ourselves when it came to making big decisions for the benefit of our health, including making changes to our plans and saying no were:
The power is within me, what does she want to say?
I feel emotional when I think about cancelling all my plans to benefit my health, what do I make this mean about me?
This is deep work we are doing together.
Yet it isn’t always the deep work. Sometimes it’s the practical stuff that we know we need to do but aren’t getting done on our own.
The invitation is to show up as you are, but that also extends to meeting yourself where you’re at. We support one another fully in the writing of posts, blogs, application forms, ideas for books we want to publish.
This includes coming and going to suit you. Leaving as and when you need to or desire.
“I really got a lot from it, which surprised me given the rush I was in”
shared Chloe after her first session with us the other month. She’s since gone on to write about how nourishing the space is and how it helps her get through the week. If you don’t already subscribe to her page Single Mum Speaks, I’d highly recommend checking out posts she written in Healing Through Writing
The Black Spot and
Incidentally, I’d love to see this 3rd one on Navigating shared in a book of short stories written about how it really feels to live with chronic illness. Perhaps we will create one together?
Recently, Sarah Field shared on a Linked In testimonial that
“Joining Amber’s Healing Through Writing space is the best thing I’ve done for me all year…the freedom to write whatever you need to write in that moment – and to know you have a safe space to share (if you want) – has been amazing.”
Freedom is one of my main values so I adore this feedback.
I deeply appreciate the recognition to it being a safe space because I am all about creating the space; the space to breathe, the space to write, the space to express, the space to be or not be.
Sarah went on to say that
“The space is whatever I need it to be each week…even when I don’t actually know what I need. Amber’s ability to make me connect with myself means there hasn’t been a single week where I have felt stuck with what to write”.
For a one hour writing space each week, there is A LOT packed into this 60 (sometimes 70) minutes. Including having needs met that you may not even be aware you had.
Helping you meet needs that you didn’t know you had is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. This comes from first understanding what my needs were back in my darkest place (2018) and then being able to find (long) ways of meeting these needs.
When I help others meet needs they didn’t know they had - especially on a longer term basis such as the journey Healing Through Writing takes you on - not only is the most rewarding aspect of my space holding service, but it is the one that can be a gateway to so much healing. In addition to an integrative approach, the belief that it is possible and the recognition that the power is within you, I feel pockets of space like this are essential not only to recovery, but our ability to thrive. That it is possible for us to thrive, not in spite of all we’ve been through, but because of it.
If you want to find freedom in your writing then why not come along for a complimentary session on Monday? Drop a rainbow emoji in the comments and I’ll send you a link to claim your space.
